Marketing checklist

So, your app is live on the Overwolf Appstore, and you've already gone through the Technical checklist and the Product checklist. Now is a great time to review your marketing efforts with this checklist to ensure a smooth launch and better chance of achieving your app's long-term growth goals.

There is no one 'correct' way to market and promote apps. You know your users best, and promotions that worked for one app doesn't necessarily apply for a different audience of gamers. With that in mind, here are some ideas for promoting your app effectively based on best practices and lessons that we’ve learned. Use those ideas that fit your app and audience.

Marketing Alpha

  • Participate in CRI / CRN
    • Content Recommendation Installer
    • Content Recommendation Notification
    • This doesn't require any development from your end
  • Manage your community - Operate Twitter account, manage community on a Discord server

  • Have an active and maintained website, and add a top bar CTA in your website that redirects users to download the in-game app - either to a download link or a dedicated page.

  • Create a tutorial video for your app (we can help!).

  • The app has passed Overwolf's marketing review and has more than 10,000 MAU

  • Create a dedicated page on your website, or include a specific section in your home page, describing why your app is built on Overwolf. For example, you can refer to the following:

  • In-game overlay capabilities.

  • Real-time game events and APIs.

  • A fast and simple development framework -- allows you to write an in-game app with just HTML and JS without the need to master C++.

  • Helps you in monetization, which allows you to focus on the app more and thus drives a better product for your users.
